Lighting a candle is easy...

However, it's what you do before and after lighting that makes a huge difference in how your candle performs and how safely it burns. Follow these tips to ensure an optimal candle experience:

Cotton wicks:

  • Trim the wick to 1/4 inch prior to each burn.
  • Keep candles away from curtains, flammable items, and clothing.
  • Avoid drafts, such as open windows and ceiling fans, to avoid contact with other items and promote an even burn.
  • Always keep candles away from children and pets.
  • Place candles on a steady, level, heat-resistant surface.
  • Never touch or move a candle while in use.
  • Stop using your candle when there's about 1/2 inch of wax remaining at the bottom of the jar.
  • Use your candle in a well-ventilated room and avoid lighting too many candles in one room at the same time.

Wood wicks:

  • Trim the wick to 1/8 inch prior to each burn.
  • Wood wicks are comprised of natural wood fibers. Thus, each one is unique and can create slight variations in how your candle burns. If you notice your wood wick beginning to soot or the flame is a bit high, it can be a sign that there's too much burnt wood at the tip. Simple extinguish the candle, trim the wick, and relight it.
